Gigi Love Bug Security Blanket – A Crochet Pattern by: Christina Ryan

Meet Gigi the Love Bug! This Ladybug lovey was inspired actually by my good crochet work coworker Trista Burke. We were in one of our co-work crew meetings via video and she thought it would be really cool if I designed a ladybug. I decided on the lovey first. I didn’t want to do a normal round for the ladybug. I wanted it to be different, which is why I chose a hexagon shape for the blanket part. This was the second idea I had before the duckling pattern. I had named the first animal after our daughter Bella, so it was time to name something after Gigi. I decided to make it in a red tweed and black featuring pink antennae. I love how the hexagon turned out. I worked up the ladybug in different colors as well, and adding safety eyes into the pattern.

I had two amazing testers who I look forward to working with in the future as well.

Karina Tabone is a dear friend who loves to crochet, and enjoyed working up this pattern. When she was finished, her children wasted no time in playing with it as you can see in the picture below. In fact, she had typed up the notes and let me know she needed to go ladybug hunting because her children enjoyed it so much! She was able to hunt it down pretty quickly to take some pictures. This is my favorite picture that she sent to me.

I was also blessed with another tester Samantha Restivo! She also did a beautiful job with this ladybug! She didn’t have any trouble working it up. I look forward to working with both these testers in the future as well.
